Google has unveiled Doppl, an experimental AI-powered shopping assistant that allows users to virtually try on clothes using just a photo. The app is currently available to iOS and Android users in the United States.
Announced via a company blog post on June 26, Doppl builds on Google Shopping’s earlier feature launched in May, which enabled users to try on billions of clothing items virtually. With Doppl, users can upload a photo taken in a store, from a friend, or even from a social media post, and instantly visualize how the outfit would look on them.
One of Doppl’s standout features is its ability to convert static images into AI-generated videos, offering a dynamic view of how an outfit might move and feel in real life. Users can also save their favorite looks or share them with friends and followers directly from the app.
Google has positioned Doppl as part of its Google Labs experiments, meaning the technology is still in its early stages. As such, the company has issued a disclaimer noting that aspects such as fit, texture, or the precise appearance of garments may not always be fully accurate.
With fashion increasingly intersecting with AI and digital innovation, Doppl represents Google's bold step into the future of personalized and immersive shopping experiences.
